Alfonso XIII – The 1929/32 Express stamps

In 1929, the express stamps were issued in a new, recess-printed design and in a much smaller format.
It's remarkable that a stamp in the new design was
"pre-issued" three months earlier being part of the overprinted "Sociedad de las Naciones" commemorative set (June 10, 1929).

Like all Spanish stamps issued from 1901 to 1932, these particular issue shows control numbers on the reverse (except the last issue). There are six known distinguishable editions:

1) September 1929: Perf. 13:12,75; numbered A.000,001 to A.008,000 [ca. 800.000 copies]
2) April 1930: Perf. 13:12,75; "URGENCIA" ovpt.; numbered A.008,001 to A.014,000 [ca. 600.000 copies]
3) December 1930: Perf. 11,25; "URGENCIA" ovpt.;numbered A.014,001 to A.020,500 [ca. 650.000 copies]
4) January 1931: Perf. 11,25; without ovpt.; re-engraved; numbered A.020,501 to A.030,500 [ca. 1.000.000 copies]
5) August 1931: Perf. 11,25; "REPÚBLICA ESPAÑOLA" ovpt; numbered A.030,501 to A.050,000 (= N° 3) [ca. 1.950.000 copies]
6) August 1932: Perf. 11,25; no backside numbers (= N° 4) [unknown number of copies]
